MIckey's Halloween Party

Way back at the beginning of the month we went to Mickey's Halloween Party at Disneyland.  Like most things at Disneyland, it was a huge ripoff, but we did it anyway.  It did actually end up being a lot of fun.
The best thing about the Halloween Party is that at 5 o'clock if you don't have a wristband on for the party, you have to leave the park.  We rode all kinds of rides that we have never wanted to wait in line for before.  I actually rode Space Mountain and Splash Mountain (I had never ridden them).  So even though I think the price is ridiculous, it was probably worth it to get to experience those things.  Our annual passes expire next weekend and we aren't renewing them, so it was fun to get to do basically everything
The kids are really into Winnie the Pooh right now and they were able to meet Winnie the Pooh and Tigger.  Jonah still mentions that he got to hug Tigger.

My favorite part of the whole night was when Harper and I went on Splash Mountain together.  Harper is just barely tall enough to go on it so she and Tom have gone once or twice, but she knew that I hadn't been on it.  The whole time we were heading toward the ride (BTW we had absolutely no wait, we just walked right on) she kept giving me advice about when the drops were going to be and when I should close my eyes.  It was so cute.

I guess we wore the kids out because Jonah was asleep by the time we got on the tram to go home.

Most of these photos are from Instagram, so if you aren't on Instagram you definitely should be!
The kids running around in front of Tom's office.
Jonah chilling in his diaper + hat.
Harper's preschool class.

Harper LOVES to do my makeup these days.  She is quite the artist :)
Yes, Jonah is feeding that dinosaur a baby.
Tom on our date night.

The kids discovered my point and shoot camera and they are OBSESSED with it.
We were driving home from Harper's preschool one day and we saw this bear thing being pulled on a trailer. The kids thought it was the funniest thing they had ever seen and they laughed and laughed.  It was pretty weird.
We walked over to the park one day and they were filming Modern Family.  The kid leaning against that red thing is Manny from the show.
Jonah is in the whale.
Harper with her new quilt (which isn't quite finished in this photo, but is now).

We have been passing around a cold for the past two weeks.  Harper was hit the worst, but we all had it to some degree.
I think she wrote this on accident, but she did it by herself.
Waiting for Daddy to get off work.
Me and Harper.  I'm wearing a scarf that I made for my sister for her birthday.
Walking home from Tom's office.  This is our street.  There is seriously ALWAYS someone moving in or out on our street.
Jonah likes to nap like this after he has made a complete disaster area of his room.

This is how the kids like to fix my hair.  Harper thinks I should wear it like this every day (there are many, many more bows in the back).  I think I took out about 25.

Oh Boy!

Harper asked Erica if she could wear pretty clothes and walk around the mall when she becomes a teenager.

Harper also informed us that when she's 15 we will be calling her Grace Jackman. Grace of course is her middle name. Yes, she said 15.

We have failed as parents. The world is already drowning us out.

the many faces of Harper

Just ignore the giant bruise on her cheek.  Someone was jumping on their bed when they were supposed to be sleeping.

Griffith Park

Have I mentioned how wonderful Tom's family is?  We are very lucky that several of his family members live in Southern California, and today we were able to get together with them plus several who are here visiting.
We met at Griffith Park and, even though it was hot and there were bees trying to take over our picnic table, we had a wonderful time.  We came home with 2 very exhausted kids who had "so much fun" playing with family.

Thanks for planning this Judy, we had a blast!

Not yet Jonah

Jonah has been a little sad that he doesn't get to go to preschool with Harper. Yesterday I told him that he can go to preschool when he gets bigger. So this morning I opened the door to the kids room and the first thing Jonah said was, "I bigger!"

I then explained to him that he can go to preschool when he is 4 and right now he is only 2. Tonight I was putting the kids in bed and Harper asked if she is going to preschool tomorrow and I told her yes. Jonah then said, "I go to preschool when I'm 4."

first day of school

Today was Harper's first day of pre-k.  She is going to this great program that is through LAUSD and she has the most amazing teachers, Ms. Ana and Ms. Esther, who have been teaching this program together for 24 years!  Harper is so ready to spend a little time away from me.  When I opened the door to her room this morning she said, "Let's go to school!" and when we got to school she didn't even want me to take her inside.

She wasn't very interested in having me take her picture in front of all of the other kids, but here are a couple of Harper sitting at her table.  She is going to be in school Monday-Thursday from 8:20-10:40.
There are several kids from our ward in her class.  You can see one of her friends behind her is wearing CTR stickers :)

And here is one of Jonah before we dropped Harper off.  He was so sad that he doesn't get to go to school too and I think he was sad to leave Harper.  I took him to the park for a couple of hours to play while she was in class and when we picked Harper up she told Jonah that she missed him "so much."
While we were waiting to drop Harper off, Jonah fell off of this bench and hit his head on the cement floor.  Scared. Me. To. Death. He has a big goose egg on the back of his head but he seems to be ok.

I thought it would be fun to make the dress that Harper wore for her first day.  Tom has good memories of wearing clothes to school that his Mom made for him, so Harper and I picked out the fabric together and she "helped" make it.  I am not very good at sewing clothes, but the pattern was pretty easy and it turned out pretty cute (though far from perfect).

I knew she wouldn't let me take photos of the dress on the first day of school, so we took some a few days ago.

Also, I just noticed that this is our 500th post!  Wow.  I started this blog when Tom and I had only been married for 2 months, and I am so glad that I did because it is fun to have the last 6+ years documented in one place.  Earlier this year I actually started another blog to write about different projects that I have been working on.

park day

Every week some moms in our ward get together for park day.  It has been HOT lately, so we went to Coldwater Canyon Park today in Beverly Hills which has a fun little creek for the kids to play in.  On our way home the kids told me at least 10 times that they had "so much fun" today.
Harper likes to pose for photos lately, it is interesting to see what poses she comes up with.
