poor baby :(

Harper woke up last night congested with a cough and a fever. She has been pretty cranky for the last few days, and it turns out that she probably has a cold and a urinary tract infection. Poor girl. We won't know for sure until the lab results were back, but that's what the doctor thought. They had to catheterize her and draw blood which was a complete nightmare. Her veins are so tiny that they tried four times and Harper screamed the whole time. It was awful. She also had to get two shots of antibiotic in her legs. She was so exhausted from screaming that she actually fell asleep during the last attempt at drawing her blood. Here's a photo from after we got home. She actually had another band-aid on her left hand, but it fell off.
On the bright side, I found out that she now weighs about 11 lbs. 3 oz., so she is quickly making up for all the weight she lost in the beginning. We have to go back tomorrow for another antibiotic shot, and then we have her 2 month appointment on Monday where she's getting even more shots so this is going to be a traumatic few days.

Look at that brave girl! She looks so pathetic lying there with all her band-aids! How sad! Honestly, I would have been crying right there with her, it would have been so hard to see Harper get all those shots! Good job Brave Mom Erica! I miss you guys!!!!

Whenever I hear about sick babies and the antibiotics they get I think about all those little babies who died from "the fever." How blessed we are, even thought it is uncomfortable, to live in modern times! Give Harper a kiss from Gramps and Grandma.
